DA set to retain Western Cape, rising well above 50% vote - with PA in third place

Disgraceful to see the representative of Al Jamha being interviews in full Hamas regalia including headband. But also reassuring that out of 550000 Muslims in SA the Israel/Jew hate vote was negligible.

PA and ACDP is an alliance made in heaven. If they can shore up some other parties maybe they have a chance. What’s good about an ANC opposition is it’ll pressure DA to deliver even more

Btw the abbreviation for the National Coloured Congress is CCC, not NCC. This made me chuckle looking at the ballot. Someone clearly realised that the original name severely limited nation-wide appeal.

This is a much needed outcome for SA as a whole. The Western Cape can now continue its demonstration of what happens when good governance based on solid capitalistic ideals and business acumen is capable of as opposed to the communistic and socialist actions of the ANC and EFF and soon to be continued by the MKP in KZN. It goes without saying that KZN is now truly doomed having fallen into the hands of a master looter and appointer of hopelessly unqualified cadres and comrades to critical posts. Tourism will now move even more heavily away from KZN in the direction of the Western Cape.

I think a DA under Geordin Hill-Lewis would have pulled 10% off other parties.

ANC tactics backfired. Loud voices on the streets waving flags, but apparently many of the voters were ultimately uncomfortable with the party hosting Hamas terrorists and kowtowing to Putin/Russian naval exercises etc. Gave them no advantage either in the w cape or nationally

The WC and NC continue to see the strong emergence of coloured identity parties, notably the PA but also the CCC et al. This is not necessarily a bad thing, although it is still a reflection of the strong influence of skin colour or even culture on SA politics. In the long term this is not going to work out well. Perhaps the DM would like to curb its regular race-baiting or racial identity enforcing articles? We all need to do our bit.

Well done DA but unless we see some darker hues at leadership level and the disappearance of a certain woman, your future may be misty.

The allocation of monies to the needs of the poor, is to be applauded. Uplifting the living standards of the poor is overdue and once they have improved accommodation, services and infrastructure, their view of the future will improve and give hope, which will, in turn, encourage education and skills gains. These skill gains can be started during the construction of the homes, etc., with on-the-job training to provide people with the skills, experience and ability to gain ongoing employment during the course of the 10-year plan, and beyond. I wish everyone every success as they embark on this initiative.

Well done DA???. This is the only province that functions and delivers on its mandate. We kept the looters, thieves, criminals and parasites at bay with their rapacious and grubby hands away from the cookie jar.

Well done DA, and very well deserved. Looking at the results the tragedy is that so many remain wilfully blind to the real benefits you bring all of us, regardless of our colour or creed. I always make a point to read the comments section on DM - maybe the political parties should do so too! Gives an indication of how the people really feel. A few people have alluded to this already but Helen "GodZille" needs to go and John isn't the one to lead the DA. I like what Geordin is doing - maybe him? I'm a 35 y.o white male in JHB who voted DA (more because of "well, who else?" then a strong alignment with their policies and leadership). They need to right people at the top to lead the DA! As for the 22% - that's really the upper threshold for the DA it seems. There are just citizizens who will never vote for them, in their current form, no.matter how badly the ANC fails. Hopefully a ANC/DA coalition that works. Anything else is a disaster and would see more semi-gration yo the Cape or immigration to UK/Canada/Aus.

Its been 30 years trying to change South Africa , but instead we are becoming the poorer of the poorest . But thanks to DA that we still have jobs and roofs over our heads . DA DA DA may you continue getting stronger and stronger in all provinces and resque our Country
